The ASA Sonographer Policy & Advisory Committee (SPAC) is seeking expressions of interest (EOI) from ASA members to support the organisation's policy and advocacy work. EOIs are due by midnight 4 December 2024. There are three positions currently available.

Description
About SPAC
The SPAC has a fundamental role in the ASA supporting the profession by:

Helping the ASA identify new and emerging policy and advocacy issues

Providing expert advice, research and other evidence to inform ASA’s response to industry consultations and other advocacy work

Leading and contributing to the development of ASA position statements, clinical statements and other resources
-
Broadly supporting the ASA’s policy and advocacy work as required.
This committee meets at least quarterly using Zoom, with up to two in-person meetings per year, where possible. The SPAC members regularly contribute to discussions and other work between these meetings through an online discussion portal.

New SPAC members will be required to complete a confidentiality agreement and conflict of interest statement.
Applicants will be assessed against the following criteria
Essential criteria:

The applicant has clearly stated why they want to be a member of SPAC and the reason(s) align with the committee work

The applicant’s professional experience builds a diverse skills and knowledge mix on the committee
-
The applicant demonstrates a history of participating in activities that support the sonography profession
Desirable criteria:
-
Experience with or contribution to policy development or submissions or clinical guidelines
-
From, or experience with people from Māori, Aboriginal, Torres Strait Island or Pacific Islander backgrounds

From, or experience with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
-
Living in, or experience of working in, rural and remote settings
-
Experience with people with a disability or from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
