Governance
We are an Australasian organisation and a registered charity with the purpose of advancing the health of the public, and the education of individuals performing ultrasound. The ASA's corporate structure is a company limited by guarantee (CLG) and is governed by a Board of Directors.
The ASA's Board of Directors consists of:
- up to seven member Directors who are elected by Accredited Medical Sonographer members
- three Non-Executive Directors with complementary skill sets who are appointed by the Board
- A President and Vice-President, also appointed by the Board of Directors.
Director terms are for three years, with a maximum of three successive terms.
The Board is supported by two formal sub-committees:
- Governance Committee
- Finance Risk and Audit Committee
The Constitution
Our Constitution is the document that outlines certain rights, roles and responsibilities of members, Directors and the CEO. It contains a number of rules which set out how the Company is to be managed to achieve our vision.
The ASA Code of Conduct
The ASA requires its members to agree to abide by the ASA Member Code of Conduct. Accredited Medical Sonographer and Accredited Student members must also agree to abide by the values, principles and standards set out in the ASA Sonographer Code of Conduct.
The ASA Governance Charter
The purpose of the ASA Governance Charter is to specify how the ASA is governed and provide guidance to the Company’s Directors, prospective directors and senior staff.
