MRPBA: COVID-19 updates

New Zealand

MRTB

The Board recognises that in emergencies providing frontline health services takes precedence over attendance at education. The Board will take context and circumstances into consideration when considering an individual practitioner’s engagement in the recertification (CPD) program.

MRTB: Important Notice about COVID-19

The MRTB have released a notice that they expect that practitioners will have already completed their CPD activities for the 2019–20. However the the CPD audit that was scheduled for June 2020 will be deferred until later in 2020.
The MRTB also stated that 'CPD requirements for 2020–21 will be considered separately once we have a better understanding of the effect of the pandemic on practitioners, we expect this may take some months.'

MRTB has confirmed with NZ sonographers that, due to COVID, they will not audit CPD for the 2021 year. They have also confirmed 'the requirements for the 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2023 trimester remain the same but if a practitioner is unable to complete the required 60 CPD over the duration of the trimester the Board will exercise leniency'.
