Ada Lo
Ada is the senior cardiac scientist and educator at the Cardiology Department of Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. She is also qualified in general ultrasonography. She has more than 25 years of experience in echocardiography. She is heavily involved in education, training and research. She is responsible for training of student echosonograhers and advanced cardiology registrars. She acquired her Master degree in Medical Ultrasound in 2007. Currently, Ada is undertaking a PhD study in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
John Atherton
John Atherton is Director of Cardiology (Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital), Professor (University of Queensland), Adjunct Professor (Queensland University of Technology), Pre-eminent Staff Specialist (Queensland Health) and an appointed member of the Australian Government Medical Services Advisory Committee. He was one of four non-European official content reviewers for the 2016 ESC Heart Failure Guidelines and chaired the 2018 National Heart Foundation of Australia/ Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ) Heart Failure Guidelines. He previously chaired the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ) Heart Failure Council and the Asia-Pacific Acute Decompensated Heart Failure Registry Scientific Advisory Committee. He is the Queensland Cardiac Outcomes Registry- Heart Failure Data Custodian (enrolls over 6,000 patients/ year). Research interests include biomarker evaluation, heart failure disease management and cardiac genetics.
Kate Sturwohld
Kate Sturwohld is a Clinical Measurements Consultant - Echo, The Prince Charles Hospital and a casual Academic Lecturer at CQUniversity. She has over 20 years experience in echocardiography and completed the DMU(cardiac) in 2001 at The Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane. Since then, has worked in a range of clinical settings including major tertiary referral centres, regional hospitals and private practice in regional Queensland, Brisbane and Sydney. Until recently Kate was an integral part of the teaching faculty in the Bachelor of Cardiac Physiology and Echocardiography, PG Diploma Echocardiography at CQUniversity. Kate is passionate about education and quality in echocardiography.
