Erika Cavanagh FASA- Mater Centre For Maternal Fetal Medicine- Senior Sonographer
Erika Cavanagh is a senior sonographer at the Mater Centre for Maternal Fetal Medicine in Brisbane, Queensland. She has been a sonographer for 20 years, graduating from the Queensland University of Technology in 2003. For the last 8 years she has specialised in tertiary level obstetric ultrasound. Her areas of expertise in obstetric ultrasound include placental dysfunction and fetal growth restriction, fetal echocardiography, and multiple pregnancy assessment. She is currently undertaking a PhD exploring the relationship between placental imaging and function in fetal growth restriction. She maintains a keen interest in sonographer education, having presented on various topics at ASA conferences, and working as a sessional lecturer at Queensland University of Technology.
Leah Gordon- Lumus Imaging Brisbane- Clinical Sonographer
Leah is a general sonographer working for Lumus Imaging Brisbane, across multiple sites. After recently completing her studies in 2022 with Central Queensland University, she is keen to encourage upcoming students and new graduates through the difficulties of study and placement
Sarah Hubble-Maryborough District Health Services- Senior Sonographer
Sarah is a general sonographer with a special interest in paediatrics. Having worked at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne for 6 years, and then as Tutor Sonographer for Sovereign Radiology in Ballarat, she is now employed as general Sonographer at Maryborough Hospital, Victoria. Sarah enjoys all aspects of ultrasound, especially paediatrics. When not scanning, Sarah loves spending as much time as possible playing with her little boy, Peter.
Jacqui Roots-Queensland University Of Technology- Research Sonographer
Jacqui is a Sonographer, PhD Candidate and Lecturer at Queensland University of Technology. Her research project is on Shear Wave Elastography to Assess the Stiffness of Muscles in the Acute Stage Post Stroke. She is passionate about musculoskeletal ultrasound and the advancement of technology to improve the diagnostic accuracy of medical imaging leading to her involvement as a member of the ASA MSK SIG and Emerging Technologies SIG. Jacqui has worked in public and private, including tertiary hospitals in the NHS but is currently focusing on her research and has published a few papers and reviewed even more. When she is not sitting in front of an ultrasound machine, Jacqui enjoys roasting marshmallows on a campfire, falling off wakeboards and wearing Wing Defence or Wing Attack netball bibs.
