MSK SIG Day - Brisbane | 31 August

  31 Aug 2024  8:45 AM - 5:00 PM        6.00 CPD Points.

We are excited to announce the MSK SIG Day in Brisbane on 31st August, 2024.

The MSK SIG Day is designed to provide sonographers with the latest knowledge and hands-on learning in MSK ultrasound. The event will feature four expert speakers who will cover a range of advanced topics from technical aspects to clinical applications.

In addition to the presentations, there will be a unique opportunity live scanning demonstrations and to participate in a Q&A session with all of the speakers. The event provides an excellent platform for attendees to network with colleagues, discuss best practices, and exchange ideas. To close the day, there will be networking drinks where attendees can continue their discussions and make new connections. This is an excellent opportunity for sonographers to enhance their knowledge, skills, and network with peers.

Speakers:

  • Mr Andrew Grant | Feeling the Pinch: Brachial Plexus and Thoracic Outlet Syndrome Demystified
The Brachial Plexus is often seen as the domain of MRI, but Ultrasound can readily be used in cases where MRI is contraindicated, not readily accessible, or the patient is claustrophobic. Due to the higher spatial resolution of ultrasound, some pathologies and anatomical variations are easier to detect with ultrasound than with MRI. In this workshop we will break down the complex anatomy of the Brachial plexus, so that it’s easily understandable and relatable. We will also cover some techniques for the reliable mapping of the brachial plexus, as well as go over the indications for the study, and provide examples of some if the more common pathologies that can be identified, including Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.

  • Dr Michelle Fenech | Ultrasound Assessment of Foot and Ankle Ligaments and Nerves
There are many ligaments and nerves in the ankle and foot that can become injured or entrapped. This presentation will simplify and unpack these ligaments and nerves, demonstrate via live scanning how these structures can be easily sonographically identified, imaged and assessed including how to distinguish normal and abnormal findings to inform patient management.

  • Mr Aaron Fleming | Mastering Advanced Shoulder Ultrasound
Shoulder Ultrasound is arguably the most common MSK examination but one of the more challenging. This presentation will delve into some of the fundamental principles of shoulder ultrasound, explore and simplify some of the advanced anatomical concepts and address a diverse array of shoulder pathologies encountered in clinical practice. Whether you are new to shoulder ultrasound or seeking to enhance your expertise, this session promises valuable takeaways for all participants. Join us as we unravel the intricacies of shoulder ultrasound, bridging theory with practical insights to elevate your diagnostic proficiency.

  • Dr Kenneth Cutbush |  Shoulders: The Surgeon's Perspective

The MSK SIG Day in Brisbane is brought to you by the ASA, in partnership with Canon.
