5 reasons to attend ASA2026 Gold Coast Conference in-person

The ASA2026 Gold Coast Conference will bring together sonographers from across Australasia and the world for three days of learning, discussion and connection. With five lecture rooms, four workshop spaces, plenary sessions and networking events, the program offers something for every sonography stream and experience level. Pre-Conference Immersive Workshops

New for ASA2026, the conference will begin with a series of Pre-Conference Immersive Workshops on Thursday 28 May. These small group, expert-led sessions combine live clinical scanning with professional development designed for immediate application.

Delegates can choose from six focused workshops that allow deeper exploration of specific topics before the main conference program begins.

Pre-Conference Workshops are an optional add-on to your conference registration, available at an additional cost.

Live Scanning in Workshops & Masterclasses

Across Friday and Saturday, 51 Workshops will showcase leading sonographers demonstrating techniques and sharing practical insights you can take back to your clinical practice. Workshop capacity has been increased for 2026, with three of the four live scanning rooms now featuring auditorium seating so no matter where you are in the room, you will have a clear view of the demonstrations.

Sunday's program adds 9 Masterclasses across most streams, 90-minute sessions featuring hands-on scanning, immersive demonstrations and focused discussion.

Masterclasses are available exclusively to in-person delegates, a valuable opportunity for advanced, expert-led learning you simply can't access online.

A brand new feature of ASA2026 is The Great Debate, a lively and thought-provoking session exploring one of the most talked-about questions in the profession: Should sonographers in Australia and New Zealand be authorised to provide independent diagnostic reports?

This fast-paced moderated debate brings together strong voices from across the profession to argue both sides.

Rebuttals, live audience polling and open Q&A, your chance to take part in a defining conversation about the future scope of sonography.

ASA Arena panel discussions will encourage audience participation on topics including communication in practice, expanding scope and recognition, and maintaining balance in a demanding profession.

The conference also includes two dedicated networking events: the Welcome Function on Friday evening and the Gala Dinner on Saturday night, where the ASA Awards will be presented to recognise outstanding contribution and excellence across the profession.

Networking events throughout the conference create space to share experiences, exchange ideas and build lasting professional connections.
