asaWEB - The Goal-Directed Valsalva

  19 Oct 2026        0.30 CPD Points.

About this Webinar:

This webinar, by Kim Prince is part of the 'Cardiac Obstructive LVOT' series and provides a practical guide to performing the Goal-Directed Valsalva (GDV) manoeuvre during echocardiography. You will learn about the equipment required, optimal machine setup and how to effectively coach patients to execute the GDV manoeuvre. The session demonstrates how to integrate GDV into routine LVOT assessment to improve the detection of latent LVOT obstruction that may not be evident at rest. By standardising the technique and patient instruction, sonographers can increase the reliability and reproducibility of provoked gradient assessment, helping to ensure clinically significant dynamic obstruction is not missed.

The material was supported by an independent educational grant from Bristol Myers Squibb Australia Pty Ltd (BMS).

This webinar runs for approximately 20 minutes and is worth 0.3 CPD points.
