COVID and Events
For events that are now open to members the following restrictions apply:
Attendees must be registered for the event through the ASA
Do not attend if unwell.
Do not attend if in self-isolation period.
Keep 1.5 metres away from others.
Do not make unnecessary physical contact with others. Avoid physical greetings, such as handshakes, hugs and kisses.
Avoid touching your face, eyes, nose and mouth.
Minimise touching of surfaces.
Wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitiser on entering an event.
Frequently wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitiser during the event.
Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. Use a flexed elbow or a tissue; if you use a tissue, dispose of it immediately and appropriately.
Clean up after yourself by placing rubbish in bins provided and avoiding putting items such as phones on meal surfaces etc.

The Australasian Sonographers Association is pleased to bring this travelling workshop to Newcastle on Saturday 20 February 2021. Live scanning will be carried out throughout the day.
8.30 am Registration
9.00 am Assessment of the normal fetal heart
This session will teach a novel approach for evaluation and application of practical skills for routine assessment of the heart and will progress to include advanced fetal echocardiography views.
10.10 am Abnormalities of the 4-chamber view
The skills learnt from assessing the normal 4-chamber fetal heart will be applied to various anomalies of the 4-chamber heart.
11.20 am Morning tea
11.50 am Abnormalities of the outflow tracts
Skills learnt from assessing normal outflow tracts of the fetal heart will be applied to various anomalies of the outflow tracts.
1.00 pm Live Scanning, feedback and questions
1.30 pm Finish

Dr Ann Quinton is a senior sonographer who has worked in Fetal Medicine Units for 20 years scanning the fetal heart. She is currently unit coordinator teaching Fetal Echocardiography at a postgraduate level at CQUniversity. She has presented widely nationally and internationally on the fetal heart.
