All about the role

We are seeking an experienced cardiac sonographer for a locum position starting in December 2024 or January 2025, the locum opportunity will be for 3 to 6 months or longer.

They will NOT consider stints shorter than 4 weeks.

The role is based at a modern health facility in a coastal community and involves a full clinic schedule from Monday to Friday, seeing 8-10 patients daily, including some inpatients.

You'll be supported by a dedicated nursing team and will work alongside visiting cardiologists, overseen by the cardiologist lead for the region ensuring high-quality care for the local community, where continuity of service is highly valued.

The successful candidate will primarily work with adult patients, although there may be occasional paediatric scans.

Typical diagnostic tests include echocardiograms, exercise stress tests, stress echocardiograms, Holter monitoring, and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.

Remote work opportunities may arise, requiring travel with the cardiologist to locations such as Kununurra, Halls Creek, Derby, and Fitzroy Crossing, although the primary focus will be on clinic-based services.

If you have at least 5 years of experience in cardiac sonography, particularly in remote indigenous community settings, and are dedicated to serving diverse populations, we encourage you to apply.

All about the duties will I perform?

• Perform echocardiograms, exercise stress tests, and stress echocardiograms.

• Conduct Holter monitoring and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.

• See 8-10 patients daily, including 1-2 inpatients, in a full clinic schedule (Monday to Friday).

• Collaborate with a dedicated nursing team to provide high-quality patient care.

• Work alongside visiting cardiologists, ensuring continuity of service for the local community.

• Occasionally perform paediatric scans as needed.

• Participate in remote work opportunities, traveling with the cardiologist to locations such as Kununurra, Halls Creek, Derby, and Fitzroy Crossing as required

• Maintain accurate patient records and reporting in accordance with facility protocols.

The skills and experience I need for this job

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in cardiac sonography, with demonstrated, recent experience working in remote indigenous community settings.

• Current ASAR Registration to practice as a cardiac sonographer in Australia.

• Valid working rights for Australia, ensuring compliance with visa and employment regulations.

• Ability to be credentialed to WA Health standards, with support provided by our team.

• Proficiency in performing a variety of diagnostic tests, including echocardiograms, stress tests, Holter monitoring, and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare teams and engage with diverse patient populations.

• Commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and maintaining continuity of service.
